Who is Charlie ?
Charlie Chaplin was born on April 9, 1939 in Wolverhampton, London.
He spent his childhood in poverty.
Due to his poverty, he started working in theater at an early age.
Gradually, his talents became apparent to art companies, and at the age of 19, he was taken to the United States by the company he worked for, where he worked on his first silent film, Silent.
There he made countless short and long films. He gained much popularity in the United States with his films, but because he was British, his success was unacceptable to filmmakers and others there.
There he was accused of being a communist by a senator named Joseph McCarthy and was placed under FBI surveillance.
He was banned from working in Hollywood on communist charges, including marrying underage girls and other charges, and was deported from the United States.
His popularity was so great that he was awarded an honorary Oscar in the year 2000.
He returned to the United States every year after a six-year exile to win an Oscar. At the time of receiving his award, he was greeted by the audience and for a full 5 minutes all the participants stood on his feet and clapped or gave him a standing ovation in English. This 7-minute encouragement is a record so far in the history of the Oscars.
Charlie Chaplin finally died on December 6, 2013, at the age of eight.
