Akshay Kumar was born into a Punjabi family in Amritsar, Punjab, India to Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia.
His father was an army officer.
Akshay Kumar has been passionate about sports since childhood. His father also enjoyed gossiping.
He lived and grew up in Chandni Chowk, Delhi and later moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) when his father left the Army to settle accounts with UNICEF.
Soon, his sister was born and his family lived in Kolwada, a Punjabi-dominated area of central Bombay.
He received his schooling from Dan Basco High School, Matunga, while at the same time learning karate. He joined Guru Nanak Khalsa College for higher studies, but was not very interested in education. He asked his father if he wanted to learn more martial arts, and his father saved some money to send him to Thailand. Akshay Kumar went to Bangkok to study martial arts and studied Thai boxing in Thailand for five years.
When Akshay Kumar was young, his father asked him what it was. Akshay Kumar has expressed his desire to become an actor.
After receiving a black belt in Taekwondo in India, he studied martial arts in Bangkok, Thailand, where he learned Muay Thai and worked as a chef and waiter.
After Thailand, Akshay Kumar moved to Calcutta (now Calcutta) to work for a travel agency, as a chef in a hotel in Dhaka and as a condominium jeweler in Delhi.
During this time, the father of one of his students, who was himself a model coordinator, offered modeling to Akshay Kumar, which eventually led to his modeling career for a furniture showroom. Akshay Kumar earned more money than his entire monthly salary in the first two days of shooting, and so he chose the path of modeling career. He worked as an assistant to photographer Jaish Sheet for 18 months without having to pay to shoot his first portfolio.
She has also acted as a background dancer in various films.
One morning missed one of her flights for an ad shoot in Bangalore.Disappointed, he visited the movie studio with his portfolio. That evening, Akshay Kumar was signed for the lead role in the film Deedar by producer Pramod Chakraborty.
